Donald (“Don”) Carter is a North Carolina native who was born and raised in Sampson County. He moved to Raleigh in 1969 to attend North Carolina State University and has lived there ever since. Don holds both a BS and a MS degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and has been practicing as a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina since 1982. With over 30 year of experience in engineering, design, construction, economic development, and environmental consulting, Don has a diverse and technical background. Much of that time was spent as a major owner of S&ME, Inc. where Don also served as a company officer and a member of the Board of Directors.
Don is now a Principal of Raleigh Development Company (RDC), which he formed with his business partner in 2003 to invest in and develop commercial real estate in and around downtown Raleigh. Since forming RDC,
Don has strategically managed and directed the investment of RDC’s assets into various high return holdings. He has also been responsible for the due diligence and financial analysis of all RDC property transactions over the last 15 years.
